Associate Programme
Give Time • Share Wisdom • Strengthen the NHS
The NHS Clinical Leaders Network (CLN) brings together clinical and care leaders across England to collaborate, learn and improve outcomes for patients and populations. Our Associate Programme invites people who share this purpose to contribute their expertise and support national and regional activity.
Associates are part of a values-driven community committed to generosity, collaboration and service to the NHS.
What is the CLN Associate Programme?
The programme enables people working in and around the health and care sector to contribute their skills, experience and insight to CLN activity. Associates help strengthen leadership capacity across systems and support the spread of good practice.
CLN Associate Member (Voluntary)
The role is open to individuals from clinical, care, non-clinical and public-sector backgrounds who want to make a positive contribution beyond their day-to-day role.
Associate Members offer a small amount of time each year to support CLN’s work. This may include:
- Helping to facilitate events or workshops
- Supporting peer learning or regional activity
- Sharing expertise on programmes aligned to CLN’s purpose
- Contributing to national conversations on leadership and improvement
Time commitment: Up to 5 days per year (no more than 0.5 days per month), with support from your employing organisation.
What you gain:
- Connection to a national community of clinical and care leaders
- Opportunities to contribute to meaningful work across systems
- Access to CLN events and networks
- Recognition as a CLN Associate Member
This is a voluntary, non-remunerated role. Reasonable expenses are reimbursed in line with NHS policy.
CLN Associate Partner (Contracted)
Associate Partners are experienced professionals who can be commissioned to deliver defined pieces of work. This may include:
- Leadership development
- Facilitation of national or regional events
- Bespoke training or programme delivery
- Advisory or support roles
Engagement is through a contract for services with clear scopes, deliverables and payment terms. Partners remain part of the wider CLN associate community and uphold the same values and standards.
Our Associate Code of Conduct
All Associates are expected to:
- Act with integrity, inclusion and professionalism
- Champion collaboration and shared leadership
- Model respectful engagement across disciplines and systems
- Declare any conflicts of interest transparently
- Commit to reflective practice and continuous learning
